How to Get Google to List Your Site
First a health warning: If you are already listed on Google then resubmitting again will NOT get your site listed any faster. In case you have never tried submissions before and want to know where the page is where such submissions can be done, look for ‘Google submit’ in Google. Expectedly, their page would be right on top of the list but there are other means also by which you can make them select your site and that also in a quicker way.
A successful way to index your site by Google is through important links with other heavy-traffic sites. However using the many online directories would easily be the way to go, quicker and simpler. Directories which are high ranked are regularly checked by Google and site indexing can get done faster if you have links from any of them.
You have a choice between free directories and paid subscriptions and it is entirely up to your budget and preference. Any business directory which operates with the same kind of interest area as your business is the best bet since Google pays a lot of importance to similarity before indexing your site. Your site must be completely relevant to the business directory as both of you work in the same area.
If you are looking forward to getting high ranking from Google then it is crucial that you get listed in DMOZ also referred to as an Open Directory. However, this is not the quickest way to get Google to look at your website. Several weeks or months can pass before you get listed by DMOZ. This is because every site submitted is reviewed in person by the category editor and it really depends how far down the queue you are. One advice in this regard is that if you are thinking of submitting to DMOZ, study and follow their guidelines carefully before submission.
Another proven way to get noticed by Google is to submit articles to sites which take articles. Usually the good article sites would let you put your own resource box called ‘About the Author’ or ‘Author Resource’. It is at this place that you have the opportunity to leave your site link behind.
Another benefit of writing articles is that when they are good, other sites find it relevant to use them on their sites. It is to be understood though that they must carry the Author details section at all times and this gives you a free link to your site. This is one successful way to get picked up by Google and if the articles deal with same subject as your business, then chances of increased traffic to your site are far more. Lastly, you definitely can submit directly to Google, but do give the options of directories and article writing a genuine try to get your site indexed.
